Probity Education Recruitment’s client is seeking a Teacher of Drama for a full time, permanent role starting September 2019.
Probity Education Recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified Teacher of Drama to join an independent day school for girls offering an excellent all-round education to girls from 4 to 18. Our client is a relatively small school with just over 500 pupils. You will be expected to teach drama at key stages 3, 4 & A Level. The ability to teach LAMDA/experience of directing is desirable.
Founded in 1891 the school occupies five Victorian buildings adapted for the use of school. The school is rated by ISI inspection as 'EXCELLENT’ situated to take advantage of the museums, galleries, theatres and other resources offered by a Central London education.
About the Drama Department:
Drama is a popular and vibrant at our client. Located in studios based on the ground floor the drama department encourage and develop creativity, sensitivity and confident to enable the girls to flourish and produce high quality drama. Our client thrives of placing the students at the centre of the learning experience and therefore the drama curriculum has been developed to ensure learning is maximised.
GCSE & A Level our client follows AQA specifications for higher practical and academic achievement. Speech and Drama lessons (LAMDA) are offered to all of the girls, with many of the senior girls achieving their medals. Drama and Theatre studies students tend to go to university/ performing arts schools/colleges.
Opportunities for performing drama and fostering leadership are numerous. Extra-curricular drama is diverse across the year groups. Girls participate in the following:
- The Annual School Play, held in a local professional theatre
- Inter-House Drama competition (directed by Lower Sixth Form students)
- Remove Drama Society
- Lower Fourth Form Play (directed by senior students)
Close to central London, with its abundance of world-class theatre, opera, dance, ballet and art, drama at our client is constantly nourished. Theatre trips and workshops led by professional companies are organised to enrich and foster students’ learning. We hope to instil a lasting enjoyment and appreciation of drama and the performing arts, not only in the curriculum, but also in the wider social culture.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a good honours degree in Drama or a related subject
- Hold a Teaching Qualification recognised in the UK
- Have experience of teaching Drama successful up to and including A Level
- Experience of teaching LAMDA is essential
- Experience of directing is desirable
- Experience working as a form tutor or similar role
- Excellent subject knowledge
