Design Engineer - Solidworks
To be part of a focused and global Engineering team which supports Sales to develop custom cooling packages for industrial diesel engines or similar applications. Strong engineering background with an emphasis in mechanical design and the ability and meet deadlines

1.Outline mechanical designs, using internal and third-party design software.
2.Establish detailed designs using methods and best-practices in liaising with the customer and manufacturing departments, creating mechanical designs using 3D/2D CAD software programs SolidWorks and AutoCAD for air-cooled and water-cooled heat exchangers.
3.Effective use of F.E.A. software to design and optimize to component elements.
4.Establish product costs by reference to price lists, standard cost data, bought in component costs and liaison with costing and purchasing departments.
5.Check contract review documents on receipt of an order and produce pre-production engineering release documents for subsequent processing leading to design and manufacture.
6.Establish a technical rapport and liaison with the customer including site visits as required with occasional overseas travel.
7.Coordinate the design engineering work.
8.Develop into a go-to resource for design and product expertise
9.Work collaboratively with the senior applications engineer and key internal partners such as sales, quality, new product development to ensure requirements are clearly understood and solutions designed to meet customer needs.
10.Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's and that lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.

Skills / Competencies / Education and Experience:

1.Proficient in Solid Works 2018
2.Strong communication skills
3.MS Office programs
4.HNC/Degree or equivalent in engineering with a mechanical bias
5.2 years in a heat transfer or related industrial field preferred
6.CFD and working knowledge of FEA software tools would be advantageous.
7.Experience in designing any of the following; tube and fin radiators, plate and bar coolers, shell and tube heat exchangers and extended surface charge air coolers is desirable.

In return the company offers a salary of £35,000, hours of work will be Monday to Friday 08.15 - 4.30, Friday 08.15 - 2.45pm. Benefits include a pension up to 6% ER contribution, free parking, Union membership. 25 days AL + BH
