We are a Pupil Referral Unit based in Maidstone that caters for students with Emotional and Behavioural difficulties. We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work with our KS3 & KS4 students supporting them with their education.

You will work within a learning framework set by the classroom teacher(s), provide support for the educational, social and personal needs of students, which ensures that they have a safe and healthy environment in which to learn and develop.

You will act as an integral part of the Centre staff team, and as such to make a contribution to the overall aims of the Centre, working within agreed policies and procedures

You will establish and maintain effective relationships with students
Work with a specified class or groups of (or individual) students to achieve learning targets set by the classroom teacher. This involves understanding and respecting the learning styles and preference of student(s) and using this knowledge to support the student(s) when working on their own or in groups.

Support students during learning activities

Working under the direction of the teacher, provide the appropriate level of support needed by students to promote independent learning, responding to any signs of distress or conflict and feeding back to the teacher about progress made by students(s)

This will include helping the student(s) with the development of literacy and language skills, numeracy skills and access to the curriculum, generally.

Promote student well-being by encouraging them to develop good relationships with others, develop their self-reliance and self-esteem, help them to adjust to new settings and to practice good standards of health and hygiene.
