To teach students across KS3 and 4 who are out of school due to social, emotional and behavioural issues. To take responsibility for planning and teaching (specific subjects) to GCSE level. To provide pastoral support and care and to develop individualised plans for pupils as well as liaise with colleagues re: baseline assessments and schemes of work. To contribute to the development of curriculum innovations, behaviour management strategies, accreditation, policies and procedures within the centre, as well as delivering the subject area(s).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Teach students across KS3 – 4 who are currently out of school and require support within a smaller group.

2. Identify and address the educational, social and emotional needs of students.

3. Prepare lessons and resources appropriate to the learning and social needs of the students.

4. To develop a comprehensive package of assessment materials to measure progress.

5. Prepare students for nationally recognised qualifications and ensure their progress is commensurate with baseline testing and information received prior to entry.

6. Contribute to the whole school ethos of cognitive behavioural strategies to address negative thinking patterns and subsequent unacceptable behaviours.

7. Provide pastoral support for students, including making at least weekly contact with parents / carers to encourage positive links with education.

8. Ensure that regular educational reports are produced as required by the Executive Head Teacher / line manager including those related to SEN Annual Reviews, examination entry, IEPs, reintegration and student progress.

9. Assist the Deputy Head / Assistant Head Teacher / Centre Manager and contribute to the whole school ethos of challenging and modifying to encourage social interaction skills in students who may therefore be in danger of further disengagement.

10. Become involved in training and curriculum innovation links developed by the PRU as part of a supportive package to mainstream schools.

11. Attend daily meetings and other staff meetings and team training as agreed with the named line manager.

12. Develop a stimulating and exciting learning environment for students with opportunities for broadening experiences and learning new skills.

13. Undertake supervisory duties during unstructured time in line with the team ethos of the centre and any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head Teacher including attendance at team training and debriefing sessions.

14. Adhere to Team Teach procedures to ensure the health and safety of all pupils and staff.

15. To abide by the school's policies, including those relating to safeguarding, health and safety and equal opportunities.
