UAV Payload Maintenance Engineer - Eynsham, Oxford - £25-£30k

We are delighted to be partnering with an innovative start-up company aiming to restore ecosystems by planting billion of trees using drones. We are looking for an enthusiastic UAV Payload Maintenance Engineer with good tinkering skills to join our growing team and help us make a difference to the world around us.

Responsibilities:

As part of the operations team, the role involves working alongside the Senior UAV pilot to prepare and conduct UAV mapping and planting operations in sometimes remote and challenging environments, using both fixed wing and multirotors up to 25kg. A good understanding of the UAVs and payload systems is expected to provide high level maintenance and informed decision-making, whether it be mechanical, electrical or code related.

Principal Duties:
• Take part in the preparation and delivery of mapping and planting UAV missions
• Support and provide situational awareness to the Senior pilot
• Ensure UAV maintenance and servicing schedules are performed
• Provide maintenance and thorough testing of the planting payload systems
• Working with external stakeholders including pilot, engineering team and data management team
• Maintain UAV currency and competency as directed by the Accountable Manager
• System management and aircraft navigation from a ground control station
• Share your passion of the work we do with the people we work with


What we are looking for:
• Comfortable tinkering with mechanical and electrical systems
• Engineering background
• A willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly
• A keenness to travel nationally with potential to operate abroad as part of a small operations team
• Right to work in UK/Europe

Preferred skills and experience:
• CAD design experience
• Experience in advanced UAV or model RC flying
• Experience in aerial photography
• Experience in forestry, agriculture, geology or landscape restoration
• Mechanical, electrical, aeronautical or systems engineering degree
