My client is a leading global chemical company dedicated to the development and manufacture of titanium dioxide pigments and performance additives. The company is currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join its growing team at its manufacturing facility in the Teesside area.
The successful candidate will direct, lead and develop the area engineering team to deliver a professional engineering service that is solutions focused. You will also drive efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering team.
The successful candidate will:·Comply with all legislative and site standard work requirements·Lead and manage an area engineering team to ensure safe and cost-effective maintenance specification, planning & execution to support the production area demands ·Work closely with the Area Manufacturing Manager to provide an engineering service maximising the effectiveness of the manufacturing process.·Control the engineering spend within budget and provide justification and associated commentary for any deviation from target·Establish a comprehensive asset management life plan for the area·Fulfil the role of Codal Engineer (Responsible Mechanical Engineer Nominee) for the area including the review and endorsement of pressure system examinations, repairs, schemes of examination and plant modifications. ·Ensure full compliance of the integrity assurance of Safety Instrumented Systems·Actively manage the engineering team to ensure the overall motivation and competency is maintained at a high level, ensure essential training is provided and encourage team and personal development.·Implement a standard work structure geared towards engineering defect elimination to prevent repeat failures and ensure right first-time repairs and installation·Technical engineering input when required to resolve equipment related business risks or engage appropriate central/external support as necessary.·Maintain a production threat register ensuring appropriate mitigation is in place and timely maintenance is carried out to eliminate production losses.·Lead and endorse risk assessment reviews in line with the corporate risk management standards·Participate in the development of engineering strategy for the site in conjunction with the Works Engineer, Functional Leaders and other Area Engineering Manager
Candidate requirements:·Degree qualified in an engineering discipline, ideally chartered engineer status with 10-15 years’ experience working on a complex manufacturing plant. Experience working on a high hazard site is essential and COMAH experience preferred. ·Excellent and demonstrable leadership skills and experience of working with Loss Accounting, LEAN, codal management and reliability practices.·Thorough knowledge of maintenance workflow, rotating equipment and pressure systems.
