News Executive

Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire

Salary: £18,000 to £22,000

Job Type: Full-Time, Contract

Working hours: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday (with some weekend work) between 05:00 and 14:00 daily.

Our client is looking for a News Executive to join our Policy and Finance News Team

Responsibilities for the News Executive role:

As a News Executive within our clients Policy and Finance News Team, you will be responsible for researching international media coverage, writing and editing content and compiling news briefings for international clients.

  • Preparing daily and weekly news reports to send out to domestic and international clients
  • Providing support to News Managers in the running of client accounts
  • Writing and editing content for daily and weekly news reports
  • Summarising international media coverage into a digestible format
  • Researching international print and online media
  • Selecting relevant content for client-specific news reports
  • Supporting and training editors and assistants

Our client is looking of a News Executive that has:

  • An academic degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Journalism, English, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Politics or similar; or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven editorial and research skills – as part of a university project or examples of workplace experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English with in-depth understanding of grammar
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office

Beneficial experience and skills for the News Executive role:

  • Experience in an editorial or writing position
  • Foreign language skills
  • Basic knowledge of politics
  • Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media, Social Sciences or English
  • In-depth, working knowledge of MS Office
