Junior Cyber Security Analyst / Network Security Engineer Company VirtualArmour is an international Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) headquartered in Denver Colorado. We’re looking for a junior level Cyber Security Analyst / Network Security Engineer to strengthen their European Security Operations Center (SOC) based in Middlesbrough. Role The primary role will be working as part of a team in the SOC in a dual-role of Cyber Security Analyst and a Network Security Engineer. At a junior level the candidate will be expected to develop skills in both roles and will be given the optiortunity to choose a career path as they mature into either role. The Cyber Security Analyst’s role is to help protect our customer networks against cybersecurity threats such as hackers, Cyber-terrorists and malware that can steal or corrupt sensitive customer data. This is accomplished by monitoring and analysing customer networks, servers, databases and end-point equipment for key indicators of compromise. Once a possible threat is detected the analyst must investigate, respond to and report to our customers with any recommended remediation. The Network Security engineer role is to monitor, maintain and configure customer networks and security devices such a switches, routers, firewalls and virtual private networks (VPNs). Our network customers range from small enterprise environments to large service provider ; We manage Data centers and internet peer exhanges. The candidate will have an opportunity to learn cutting edge netowrk technologies such as SD-WAN, VXLAN and EVPN as they become more familiar with out customer environments. Candidate We’re looking for a person who is in their early stages of, or is looking to begin a career in Cybersecurity – preferably someone with one or two years’ experience in IT. The candidate must come from an IT background – or demonstrate a deep understanding of Information Technology environments. The ideal candidate will need to be a quick learner with strong problem-solving skills. The ability to work in a pressurised environment with conflicting priorities, ensuring that service level agreements are met is essential for the successful candidate. The candidate must be comfortable working in a highly technical environment and be able to communicate their findings to non-technical customers. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience within IT. Minimum 1-year experience within IT industry. Have the ability to demonstrate an understanding of IP technologies and Cyber Security Desired experience in SIEM platforms – such as Splunk, QRadar or AlienVault etc Desired experience in routing switching and firewalls – such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto or Fortinet. Candidates with vendor specific qualifications are preferred, such as CCNA, JNCIA, PCNSE
