The Strategic Initiatives team delivers thought leadership and implementation for strategic projects on behalf of GMS senior leadership. The team sits within the Strategy, Planning, & Development group in Global Merchant Services. We conduct research and analysis to answer key business questions for the merchant organization, and deliver sound recommendations against these. Projects include evaluating growth opportunities and optimizing existing business operations.

Responsibilities include:

    Collaborate with partners, interview stakeholders, and synthesize key findings Conduct research and analyses to benchmark internal practices and processes against the marketplace (competitors, Fortune 500 companies, innovators) Stay informed of trends, updates, and ventures relevant for global merchant organization Analyze data sets and draw conclusions from analysis Create high-quality recommendations based on findings Present to senior leadership on analyses and recommendations Own and drive implementation of recommended solutions

Required skills:

    Overall intellectual curiosity and ability to identify opportunities and solve problems Comfort with project-based work Excellent project management skills with sense of urgency for driving initiatives forward Ability to build and leverage relationships across American Express. Strong analytical skills, including fluency in Excel Demonstrated interest in developments in payments industry, particularly in fintech space Executive presence and strong presentation skills
