A job opportunity has arisen for the role of Supply Chain Finance Manager reporting into the finance controller with a dotted line to finance director. The key elements of the role will improve reporting and operational partnering with aim of driving efficiencies, deliver cost saving, improving performance and playing an active role developing supply chain strategy, providing independent support and challenge current thinking across the supply function in either health or hygiene and home.

Roles & Responsibilities


* As a senior finance manager provide key financial support to the Senior Supply Chain management team in order to aid decision making.

* Lead on Supply Chain finance, responsible for financial support and cost measurement for the inbound, warehousing and freight budgets across the full planning horizon, to include reporting and periodic, quarterly, annual and long-term forecasting for UK & Ireland.

* Lead with the supply host, the responsibility for managing, optimizing and fairly allocating shared costs and benefits between the business units.

* Work across business units to deliver business-critical tasks and projects to deliver efficiencies and enforce financial controls

* Sit on the Senior Management team for Supply Chain as key finance representative.

* Continuous review of financial performance and key KPI’s across inbound, warehousing and freight operations. Responsible for all supply chain commercial reporting on a periodic basis.

* Support financial parameter/KPI understanding across the customer portfolio (By customer by depot) and inbound operations by benchmarking the operations against relevant other external distribution companies

* Identifying areas of cost and process inefficiencies across the end to end supply chain and driving through the change necessary to ensure that these are eliminated by working with senior management across the business units with the capacity as both a shared and dedicated finance business partner.

* Track performance & provide updates or risks/opportunities versus the supply chain plan with a revised action plan where appropriate

* Provide support to all Improvement Projects and ensure numbers are robust and achievable.

* Monitor performance and implement improvements regarding risks and opportunities in the supply chain plan.

Stock and Provision

Continuous management of the level of residual/obsolete stock and level of provision being held.

* Monthly review of all stock / SDS provision

* Improving transparency of SDS future risk and working with sales to reduce the liability

* Responsible for setting target prices and approving residual pricing

* Developing the stock scorecard which helps focus supply on improving the quality of stock and reducing adverse impacts from poor stock management.(Damages, packaging/ component write-off, air freight)

* Challenge sku complexity across the Region and share skus where possible

* Develop a program to ensure phase in / phase out of skus is optimised, drive a reduction in write off costs

Embellishment/ Co-packing

* Fully own and manage costing with an understanding of the impact mix has on GM.

* Driving and supporting continuous efficiency improvement across all of the embellishment activities and cost components

* Challenge the requirement for embellishment and the cost structure for an approved activity

* Redevelop the BOM rolling, stock transfer and reporting processes – in order to ensure their full transparency, tracking true cost and review ROI


* Monthly review of all COG’s lines to ensure they are reported correctly in both Financial and Management reporting systems. Including adjusting for errors and reconciling the balance sheets.

* Annual and Quarterly review of transfer prices, including an understanding of cost drivers, challenging factories, advising the business on factory and commodity headwinds and quantifying the financial impact.


Qualified Accountant CIMA preferred.

5-7 years’ experience industry

Strong proven track record of working within a logistics/supply chain function

Deep knowledge of supply chain accounting

High level of commercial aptitude

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with non-financial functions at all management levels

Motivated self-starter with the ability to initiate relevant projects and analysis

Strong team player who is confident and personable

Strong analytical skills

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work well under pressure

Track record of driving results

Flexibility to travel when required (3-4 days per month)
