Our client is a rapidly developing business in the renewable energy sector, operating a state-of-the-art Anaerobic Digestion Facility with an annual processing capacity of 75,000 metric tonnes and producing renewable energy from a combination of food wastes and purpose grown energy crops. As experts in environmentally friendly food waste disposal solutions, our client boasts patrons from many of the UK's major manufacturers, retailers and distributors.

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for facilitating the smooth running of the engineering department, performing a variety of general engineering tasks while ensuring the plant is maintained to the highest possible standard. This position liaises with the production and management teams on a daily basis, to maintain a high level of awareness of the maintenance, installation and fault finding needs within the plant, and manage these proactively and efficiently.


- Ensure the smooth running of the plant in order to achieve high levels of productivity
- Perform general mechanical engineering tasks, including drilling, welding and grinding
- Perform installation and fault-finding tasks
- Complete tasks safely, in accordance with the company's health and safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and tidy workshop and plant by clearing up after completing tasks
- Assume responsibility of being on call and resolving issues on site, out of hours
- Meet targets and deadlines set for engineering tasks, and complete these to a satisfactory standard
- Maintain all tools belonging to the company to a high standard, and report any defective equipment to the Engineering Manager
- Record daily readings of the Anaerobic Digestion plant flexibly during the week and weekend, as and when required
- Liaise with production and management staff daily, to ensure high level of awareness of plant condition
- Adhere to the company's standards of practice at all times


- Possess a mechanical engineering qualification to degree standard
- At least 3 years' experience and knowledge of mechanical engineering and maintenance related tasks
- Highly motivated individual
- Ability to prioritise work and work independently
- Willingness to develop understanding of the plant's engineering and systems
- Comprehensive problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Outstanding work ethic and commitment to team and individual achievement
- Good attention to detail, accuracy and standards of work
- Basic I.T knowledge
- Excellent time management and effective working
- Experience of compliance with health and safety processes and procedures
- Driving licence holder and own transportation

The hours will be full time, Monday to Friday on 6am-2pm/ 12noon-8pm rotating shifts and flexibility to work overtime at the weekends will be required. You will need to be able to start working on a day shift while training before moving to rotating shifts. The pay rate will be £13.46 per hour depending on experience and over time will be paid at time and a half. This Mechanical Engineer vacancy is based in Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
