Our client, a leading London market insurance business has a requirement for a solid Finance Business Analyst to join their London based team. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Accountant with extensive London market experience.


Key Responsibilities

The Finance Programme Business Analyst will be responsible for business readiness activities for Finance relating to specific priorities and liaising with a number of stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
The role requires an individual with a strong track record of delivering major finance change programmes in the insurance industry.
Working with the priority SME, the key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Responsible for business readiness activities relating to assigned specific priorities within the Finance Programme - this is a broad role that covers people, processes, testing, controls and communication readiness
  • Define the problem statement and desired outcome
  • Work closely with the priority SME to determine and manage impacts on the existing processes, supporting the engagement with multiple stakeholders
  • Work closely with the priority SME to determine and manage impacts on the existing data flows including interfaces and data consumption
  • Work closely with the Controls Lead to define changes required and ensure controls are effectively designed. Work with Internal Audit on ensuring any redesign is effective.
  • Identification of any transitional arrangements that are required to ensure the business is ready to support new processes and ensure solutions in place to bridge any gaps
  • Development of Business Process Procedures ("BPP's"), Test Scenarios and Test Scripts, ensuring alignment with the overall testing strategy / approach
  • Work closely with Internal Audit, IT and MI to agree the Statement of Works relating to the Internal Audit assurance review for governance, delivery and testing purposes
  • Support UAT and Pre-Production testing, to ensure effective and timely testing
  • Monitoring of testing activities and resolution of queries to ensure Finance delivers to the testing plan
  • Ensure "evidence" is in place to support all finance testing activities that will satisfy Internal Audit, External Audit and Change Management purposes
  • Provide assurance that testing activities are sufficient to support Go / No Go Decisions for both UAT / Go Live
  • Support "Business Change" in the preparation for Pre Change Authority Board ("CAB") and Post CAD
  • Work with Internal and External Audit on any queries relating to the assurance review of the specific priority
  • Knowledge transfer to relevant BAU owners removing dependency on the programme team following successful delivery of the priority
  • Train relevant BAU owners
  • Provide support to the business as required relating to the review of data and reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc support as required to other work streams to ensure cohesion in the programme


Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of insurance accounting is essential, including Syndicate specific issues
  • Experience of major finance transformation projects
  • Experience in project delivery and test execution
  • Ability to work as part of a team, or on own to solve problems
  • Qualified Accountant

  • Knowledge in Insurance and Finance processes, with the ability to communicate and challenge appropriately
