Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is the largest community health and care provider in Sussex. Our expert teams deliver a wide range of medical, nursing and therapeutic care to over 9,000 people a day, serving a total population of 1.3 million.

We pride ourselves in providing excellent care at the heart of the community. In July 2018, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave us an improved 'Good' rating, with 'Outstanding' features. 96% of our patients said they would recommend our services to their friends and family, and we attribute this to the hard work and dedication of each and every one of our teams.

We offer our staff a multitude of benefits; flexible working, free health and wellbeing checks, three tax efficient workplace nurseries rated 'Good' and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, and a wide range of exciting learning and development opportunities including external courses, conferences, and a Graduate Studentship Scheme.

The Trust is signed up to the disability confident scheme and we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in working with children and young people (aged 0-18) with additional needs. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to join a multi-disciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses and Paediatricians. You will be based in a Child Development Centre and provide support to the Occupational Therapy Team both in the Centre and in the community, including schools, nurseries and home environments. The Occupational Therapy profession focuses on helping people to develop their practical, daily living and play skills, so this post is an opportunity to support children, young people and their families with managing the impact of their difficulties on their daily lives. It offers the chance to be both creative and practical. The post holder will be expected to carry a designated caseload of children (under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist) and deliver goal-centred therapy programmes and carry out additional tasks as required by the team.

The applicant will need to have experience of working with children and a relevant qualification. As this is a community post they will also need to be a car driver/owner.

We are a friendly and supportive team offering regular training opportunities and supervision. The Child Development Service is based in two centres in the Central area of West Sussex (Crawley and Horsham) with easy access to the Sussex countryside as well as Brighton and London.

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.
