Role – Buyer
Temp – Interim temporary position
Location – Hertford
Hours – Starting at either 8:30am or 9:00am daily for 40 hours per week.
Start Date – ASAP. Interviews this week!
Company – A specialist engineering services company working in the utility and building sectors.
Looking for – An experienced Buyer who is familiar with engineering / construction industry products and materials. Knowledge of COINS would be a distinct advantage.

Key responsibilities –
• Manage all procurement functions including conducting bids, supplier negotiation and processing orders for UK & Ireland
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and account management to create procurement solutions that meet service, terminology, specification and cost expectations
• Ensure department records are maintained in accordance with established policies, procedures and audit guidelines
• Undertake price negotiations with suppliers as needed and serve as the company representative to prospective suppliers
• Communicate company needs and gather information from suppliers regarding their products and services
• In the case of price increases, initiate negotiations with supplier to mitigate increase and/or develop plans to mitigate and/or offset price increases
• Research and develop new product sourcing options as necessary
• Source new suppliers for UK & Ireland using the internet and existing supply chain contacts
• Set up new suppliers, contracts, SLA’s, terms, rebates
• Checking and imputing of orders to the in-house procurement software
• Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications
• Compare suppliers' bills with bids and purchase orders in order to verify accuracy
• Building relationships with suppliers, meetings etc
• Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations
• Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries.
• Carry out site visits and communicate regularly with management keeping them abreast with products, prices, deliveries

Person Required –

• Experienced Buyer with strong negotiating skills
• Excellent customer service and will have a proactive and positive approach to change
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with others
• Experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
• Good organisational skills and able to work to demanding deadlines
• Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations and other requirements governing the purchase of goods and services in the UK and Ireland
• Experience of materials and equipment markets and price trends
• Experience in using computerised systems for procurement (preferably COINS)
