Regional Head of Volunteering
About the role
The Head of Volunteering has regional responsibility for the delivery and realisation of our strategy for being at the forefront of volunteer provision in the health sector and establishing our pipeline of the best volunteers. Leading our District, Area and Unit mangers across both our adult and youth units and ensuring development and the best experience for all St John people are the key remits of this role.
Reporting to the Volunteering & Young People Director, you will be responsible for several thousand volunteers across a quarter of England.
We have four roles available one in each region, East, London & South, North and West. The role will be based within the region you would be responsible for and locations could include:
East - Chesterfield, Stevenage and Derby
London & South - London, Brighton, Oxford, Hampshire and Essex
North - Ossett, Durham and Manchester
West - Birmigham, Bristol, Bridgwater and Exeter
Location will be agreed upon appointment and can be negotiable with the successful candidate
You will be a vibrant and compassionate leader with experience of leading large numbers of people. You will have experience of volunteering and of leading volunteers and, ideally, will have experience as a youth leader. Developing people, particularly future leaders, will be a passion of yours.
You will be skilled at working in a matrix organisation and will be able to juggle competing priorities effectively. You will be effective at managing large budgets.
At the heart of St John Ambulance are volunteers and young people. Making sure St John people are engaged at the heart of their community, having the best experience and being vibrantly led is central to our mission. St John volunteers come from all backgrounds and communities and include first aiders, healthcare professionals, youth leaders and managers as well as specialists in functions such as safeguarding and logistics. They take on some of the most challenging roles in volunteering. They are first responders at emergencies, they volunteer as ambulance crews or first aiders at football matches, concerts and festivals.
