NHS Finance Manager
An interesting new role has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to lend support during a busy time to a NHS commissioning body.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Management, you will be responsible for the financial reporting and organisation around a specialist area funded by NHS England. This will involve establishing and maintaining baseline spend; liaising with NHS Supply chain around stock control; co-ordinating financial data from providers to enable reporting of costs to NHS England, then ensuring the financial ledger correctly reflects these costs; and preparation of year end forecasts including financial modelling.
You should be a qualified accountant, or equivalent, with substantial post qualification experience of financial management in a NHS environment. You will need a good understanding of the flows of funding within the NHS and an appreciation of activity and performance data, in order to be confident in understanding the financial position. Experience of operating as the financial liaison point with procurement teams, would be very helpful. Strong communication skills and the willingness to roll up your sleeves and help out will be essential as you’ll need to rapidly develop effective working relationships in a fast paced environment.
