Marketing Executive Based in Stirling Salary up to £25,000 per annum (depending on experience) The National Wallace Monument has been telling the story of William Wallace for 150 years. The historic building has been completely refurbished for its Anniversary year in 2019 – when it will be welcoming visitors with a totally transformed experience. You can play a vital role in communicating with those who have an affinity with the Monument- and in reaching out to those who have yet to discover the famous landmark. Stirling District Tourism Limited is recruiting a Marketing Executive. This role will involve responsibility for delivering and implementing marketing activities and initiatives across different channels, with a particular focus on digital communications and social media. With relevant background experience, preferably in a marketing role within the leisure sector, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and you will be familiar with many of the promotional tools which are used across the sector. You will be comfortable with technology, as well as being able to organize and manage your workload effectively, identifying priorities and achieving deadlines. You will be an effective communicator with a creative flair, and you will be able to contribute new ideas to the business. Your attention to detail, and your knowledge and experience will enable you to measure the effectiveness and impact of marketing activity. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To support the implementation of activity in line with the Marketing Objectives, and in conjunction with the company’s Marketing Manager. 2. To create and implement multi-channel marketing campaigns. 3. To liaise with agencies, contractors, suppliers, and other key contacts in managing marketing projects, including the production of marketing materials. 4. To monitor and evaluate the performance of marketing activity. DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS 5. To develop and implement the Digital Communications Strategy. 6. To create and publish exciting and engaging digital content across social media channels. 7. To increase the number of visits to the National Wallace Monument website, and to improve all stages in the online customer journey. 8. To ensure all customer enquiries received online are responded to promptly and accurately. 9. To manage the subscriber database (and lists), monitor the performance of e-mail communications, and produce and distribute regular e-newsletters with relevant content. 10. To ensure that the National Wallace Monument’s website is performing successfully, making good use of SEO and PPC tactics, with a particular focus on managing all Google Ads activity. PUBLIC RELATIONS 11. To manage liaison with the organisation’s external PR agency, to secure positive and regular coverage across local, regional and national publications. EVENT CO-ORDINATION 12. To plan and execute the Monument’s programme of special events and activities, working closely with the Visitor Attraction Manager and with attraction-based staff to ensure that all personnel are fully briefed on the events programme. QUALIFICATIONS Essential: Educated to degree level (or equivalent) – either in marketing or another relevant discipline. Desirable: Evidence of participation in CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activity. EXPERIENCE Essential: Experience within a communications/marketing role. Experience in using current social media channels and tools in a business environment. Experience of managing website content, including the use of CMS applications, editing and publishing tools. Experience of special event planning and management. Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with a working knowledge of database management. Desirable: Experience of marketing within the leisure sector. Familiar with the tourism industry in Scotland. SKILLS AND PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS Essential: An enthusiastic approach to marketing, and a strong desire to see positive results for the company. A creative thinker, capable of identifying new opportunities, and bringing forward new ideas and suggestions. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Comfortable in acting confidently as the spokesperson for the organisation when engaging with external stakeholders and contacts. Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple projects concurrently. Capable of working both independently and as a team member. Desirable: Experience of creating and managing Google Ads. Ability to use a range of data analysis tools, including Google Analytics. Experience of managing mailing lists in line with Data Protection legislation, and producing regular e-mail newsletters. Familiar with editing images and using graphic design software.
