We have an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to support the business branch in Glasgow. The Role As Accounts Assistant, this role is primarily focussed on processing invoices and daily bank transactions so the invoice processing experience is key. You will also support the wider finance team with a range of administrative tasks, deal with ledger entries and build relationships with internal and external customers. Key Accountabilities as Accounts Assistant: Process Invoices accurately and on time: Register invoices and follow the correct approval process to ensure they are paid to terms. Build good relationships across the Edrington-Beam Suntory business, and with suppliers/customers to help ensure speedy co-operation and minimise turnaround times. Process daily bank transactions and reconcile the bank on a regular basis: Allocate payments and receipts to the correct customer/vendor accounts and reconcile all bank accounts on a regular basis. Build good relationships with Credit Control to ensure the process is efficient and effective. On occasion, it may be necessary to go to the local bank to deposit funds and collect petty cash. Reconciliation of ledger accounts: Reconcile vendor, customer, general ledger accounts on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as appropriate, ensuring the ageing profile of these is current and accuracy is maintained at all times. Reconcile all outstanding items at month end: Monitor all receipts, payments and deductions from customers, whilst reviewing all un-reconciled amounts on a regular basis. Regularly reconcile ledgers to supplier/customer statements. Proactively manage account balances to ensure these are current and correct. Build strong internal relationships: Build effective and collaborative relationships throughout the business in order to aide understanding of the company’s processes and procedures. Deliver an exceptional finance service: The Finance Services Team prides itself in providing excellent customer service. As a member of the Finance team, you will be expected to take full ownership for your area of responsibility, be focussed on accuracy and attention to detail and prioritise your workload to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and within specified deadlines. Personal Development: It is expected for you to seek out opportunities to further develop your own personal skills and attributes. You will be expected to take a proactive approach to improve ways of working and gaining a deeper understanding of the wider business. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Excellent numerical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Good standard of verbal and written communication coupled with accounting knowledge ideally gained within an accounts payable environment. Proactive and have the ability to interrogate accounting systems whilst making financial sense of the output. A degree of assertiveness to pursue queries and tenacity to close down tasks fully will allow you to add value to this role. Excellent relationship builder as a positive interaction with the wider business is a key part of the role. Good Microsoft Excel skills essential SAP skills are desirable.
