Senior IT Technician
Working with our IT network manager you will have strong customer facing skills and the ability to react well to pressure, responding to incidents and issues logged by staff, students and ;In addition you will also need to be able to carry out routine network management tasks and with the support of the IT network manager the IT ; You will be presentable, professional and self-motivated with the ability to work alone and as part of a ; Essentially, you will have an abundance of energy, drive and enthusiasm and possess the ability to work flexibly to support the school in all aspects of IT commensurate with your role and an education ; MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB To support the provision of IT within the school, ensuring that all needs including teaching & learning and administration are met as required. This includes assisting the IT network manager with all aspects of the day-to-day operation of all IT systems. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Under the direction of the IT Network Manager: Assist all staff, students and parents with IT to ensure effective teaching, learning and administrative support. Create, update and respond to ticket requests via the school’s IT helpdesk. Work proactively and raise potential problems or risks to the network manager Assist junior IT staff using your strong technical knowledge. Provide 1 st – 3 rd line IT support – This includes supporting 500+ desktops (hardware and software), servers (physical and virtual), firewall, networking infrastructure, managed wireless system, telephones system, CCTV, MFD’s, and all AV equipment. Create, edit, and manage user accounts – AD, O365, SIMS Carry out project work and rollouts set by the IT network manager. This includes but not limited to, setting up new virtual servers, software deployments and upgrades, Imaging desktops In addition to the above: Carry out other duties as set by the IT Network Manager. Manage the IT department in the IT Network Managers absence. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Essential Desirable Hold A-Levels (or equivalent) X IT certifications - MCSA/MCSE, CCNA, A+, N+, etc X At least 3 years’ experience in a similar IT support role X Experience of AD and group policy X Proven experience with administering Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 – Active Directory, WSUS, DHCP, DNS, IIS, NPS, X Administering Microsoft Exchange and/or Office 365 X Administering an Office 365 hybrid setup including ADFS X Experience of administering VMWare X Desktop support for Windows 7 and 10 X Knowledge of software packages on Windows and IOS X Apple MAC support and configuration X Experience with Smoothwall X Windows deployment X Backups (Veeam, cloud backup technologies) X Any knowledge of Capita SIMS, and/or PARS X Ability to plan and prioritise a range of regular and irregular tasks within specific deadlines X Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team X Ability to communicate with a range of audiences X Must be a strong communicator, who is capable of aiding colleagues, students and parents confidently, including training X To apply: If the position is of interest and you are ready for fresh challenges, then we would love to hear from ; Full details and an application form can be found on the school website please note we will only accept application that are completed on an application ; You must be fluent in both written and spoken English and have the right to live and work in the UK as no sponsorship is available.
