Technical Support Analyst

Location: Hull

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Company Overview

One of the UK’s largest ports operator with a network of over 20 ports around UK. They are handling around a quarter of the UK’s seaborne trade and contribute £7.5billion to the economy every year.

Due to the growth of the company they are now looking to grow the team.


To provide customer focused IT support function across several locations and ensure the service provided is of a consistent, high quality.

  • Deliver high standards of infrastructure and desktop support to customers.
  • Manage day-to-day operational efficiency of the systems.
  • Administration of Active Directory and user permissions.
  • Building, maintaining and supporting server and desktop hardware.
  • Office 365/ Windows Server Administration.
  • General housekeeping and documentation.
  • Project management including the design and delivery of work packages.
  • Work effectively within a Change Management environment
  • 2nd and 3rd line support of incidents, requests and problems to agreed service levels and quality standards
  • Consistent and accurate execution when completing tasks and documenting actions
  • Troubleshooting or managing technical issues ensuring all actions are documented
  • Monitor and maintain infrastructure elements to ensure a proactive approach
  • Planning and prioritising workload whilst adhering to deadlines
  • Active involvement in estate enhancements

The role will require a natural aptitude for problem solving, solution building and completing tasks to deadlines. The candidate must be able to maintain effective contact with a disparate technology team through instant message, phone, teleconference, email, and video conference.



  • Experienced 2nd / 3rd line support technician.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • In depth working knowledge of the Microsoft environment including AD, O365, SQL, Windows Server 20xx.
  • VMWare 6.5 and SAN Storage (Preferably 3PAR).
  • Citrix 7.15 and AppV
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN.
  • Intel based Server, PC, Thin Client and Laptop hardware.
  • Good knowledge of VEEAM.
