Consultant in Public Health/Medicine
We are looking for a public health consultant to temporarily replace for a fixed term of 12 months the consultant leading the healthcare public health advice to NHS commissioners. The role will lead the core offer to Liverpool CCG and will also be the principal contact for public health with adult social care within the local authority. The role will also play its contributory part with the DPH and consultant colleagues in leading the development of a population health plan for Liverpool, with a focus on a Health in all Policies approach; to support the goals set out in the Mayor of Liverpool’s Inclusive Growth Plan and Liverpool CCG’s One Liverpool Plan. The overall purpose of the role is to maximise the contribution of the whole PH team to support the achievement of these goals, primarily through influence and advice to NHS partners as well as with LCC Directorates.
The role will build on the strong links established with Liverpool CCG, and act as the principal contact for public health with the CCG. The role will support Liverpool CCG through providing public health and population health perspectives to the commissioning process. These will include agreeing and delivering agreed programmes of health needs assessment, advice on evidence and effectiveness of interventions and programmes including modelling the size of the predicted impact, help with interpretation of population data and performance data, and developing appropriate health outcomes to measure progress.
The role will provide advice to the CCG to support alignment of health improvement priorities between the CCG and public health programmes.
The post holder will be professionally accountable to the employing authority and managerially accountable to the employing authority via their line manager, the Director of Public Health.
