Overall purpose of role
A vacancy has arisen for a Software Developer in Test (SDET) who is naturally inquisitive and wants to solve problems, not just someone who wants to be another dev/tester. As an integral part of a Scrum Team the developer/tester will be tasked with ensuring that the tests are reliable enough for the company to have a Continuous Deployment (CD) process as well writing code/supporting development activities.
Part of the role is to be an ambassador for continuous improvement and as such, will be expected to use 2 core skills! Development and Test in order to create clean code and tests, to efficiently deliver the extensive Feature Backlog. Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to enhance their Development and Test analytic skills whilst thriving in an exciting, innovative environment, working in a SCRUM team dedicated to delivering better products faster.

The role provides an entry point into a diverse technology and change department and offers progression within the Test, Development or Dev Ops communities.
Person Specification
Experience with C#, .Net and Visual Studio and of test automation frameworks
Track record of ensuring the successful release of new features and use of the Gherkin style syntax for test creation
Love of a challenge and determination and tenacity to succeed, but someone who is really happy to share their knowledge and understanding with the greater team.
Use of Object Oriented patterns to encourage good practice (SOLID, DRY) and an understanding of Continuous Integration (e.g. Jenkins, Team City) and a real advocate for good programming practice and Agile principles.
Familiarity with Source Control Management (ideally Git or Mercurial) and happy with leading defect resolution on behalf of the team.
Disciplined in Test first development (BDD, TDD, ATDD) with some experience of Performance testing
Use of good communication skills with colleagues and for managing of internal & external stakeholders
Desirable Skills
Creation of asynchronous code and call methods avoiding deadlocks/other issues.
Understanding of databases (Relational/Document)
Familiarity with architectural patterns and approaches and some solutions or application architecture and design.
Awareness of DevOps activities (e.g. virtualization, build/deploy scripts and tools, etc.)
Awareness of testing RESTful APIs and backend systems, Fluent Interfacing or UI Test Automation
