As a Product Assurance Manager, you will to help ensure that hi-tech weapon systems are developed to the required level of quality.

About the job:

Our client currently requires a Product Assurance Manager to join the Product Assurance Engineering UK team, responsible for ensuring Test Specs and Verification and Validation activities are carried out within the Design Lifecycle (predominantly of missiles), and to provide professional quality support to the design domain in the UK. This is a particularly exciting time as, due to an increasing workload, the quality equipment team is growing meaning there’s an opportunity to make a real impact on the way things are done. The job will include;

• Lead investigations and root cause analysis of product and process non-conformance to support business improvement and improved product quality

• Ensure the development, maintenance and modification of Engineering processes, procedures and tools in assigned area, in response to quality related issues.

• Carry out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of product and process quality.

• Provide expertise and support to cross-functional quality investigations, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are put in place and interface with other Engineering groups with respect to quality investigations, diagnostics, data collection, collation and analysis

• Assist preparation for Product Gate – co-ordinate inputs, review from quality perspective, assist team members to improve input to acceptable standard if deficiencies exist.

• Review missile level quality plans – identify how to create a common seeker quality plan based on minimum change from these documents

• This plan should identify any deviations from standard working practices that are planned for seeker development.

• Start to consider supplier quality issues – review requirements being provided and responses being offered

• Production line readiness review – assist with identifying how this will be performed. Identify activities that will be required to ensure they are built into the industrialisation plan.

About you:

To be suitable for this Product Assurance Manager job, you will ideally be degree educated, or have substantial experience in Engineering and Quality Management and be a practitioner of current QA problem solving methods (8D, Six Sigma, DMAIC, etc.). You will need significant and demonstrable experience of working in a design environment, preferably electronics or high end complex electronic systems, with knowledge of the Quality Tools and an understanding of non-conformance management using SAP would be an advantage. The type of candidate that wiil be successful is someone who can show they are highly self-motivated and able to demonstrate a determination and persistence to deliver results despite obstacles and setbacks.
