The Company

This leading aerospace and defence technology company designs and develops electromechanical engineering systems for use in harsh environments.

An opportunity has arisen within their Environmental Engineering department for an Environmental Project Engineer to be the key technical focal point for all stages of the product lifecycle from concept and product development, through design and qualification to ongoing in-service support.

Expertise covers; environmental requirements definition and management, data analysis, simulation and modelling, and in-house testing (climatic, mechanical (vibration and shock), structural and fatigue).

The Job

As Environmental Project Engineer, you will work with Systems Engineering and Design teams, generating environmental requirements, developing product designs and defining test strategies. You will also work with an existing team of project and test engineers to define and manage test programmes.

Key responsibilities:

* Define environmental requirements for products and develop proving plans to support product development and formal qualification.

* Assess the robustness of product designs against environmental requirements.

* Provide technical expertise to sub-contract designers on environmental test methodology, test processes, test facilities and instrumentation.

* Develop test plans for the complete product and its sub-systems.

* Measure and analyse operational environments (including field trials) in support of requirement development for shock, vibration and climatic effects.

* Writing technical assessment and reports.

The Candidate

* Ideally degree qualified or equivalent with experience managing test projects in a laboratory environment.

* Working experience of Environmental Engineering and simulation tools, ideally within the defence sector.

* Thorough understanding of vibration, shock, temperature and humidity environments.

* Thorough understanding of environmental test processes, test measurements and instrumentation.

* Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
