Position: PRODUCTION MANAGER
Responsible to: Factory Manager
Responsible for: All production
Purpose of Role
Manage the production resources to produce high quality products on time at the best achievable price. Continue to improve health & safety and hygiene standards whilst improving productivity by maximising efficiencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure the health and safety of all employees and others visiting or affected by the department and its activities.
* Ensure hygiene, housekeeping and environmental standards are maintained and improved within the business at all times.
* To manage performance and develop the team to drive operational performance to achieve and exceed budgetary targets including key performance indicators such as
* Output
* Change over time
* Yield
* Waste levels
* Labour efficiency
* To assist in the setting of projects and targets to agree and achieve budgetary requirements.
* To effectively manage the team / resources and oversee the day to day running of the production areas.
* To develop the team to ensure retention and succession planning and to apply the company’s appraisal and disciplinary procedures where appropriate.
* To liaise with the Quality Department to ensure quality policies and procedures are adhered to.
* To manage and maintain consistent communication throughout the business and to forge sustainable links with Planning, Warehouse, Customer Service, Quality, Engineering and Sales.
* To support continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency through the business.
* To deliver a high standard of service to customers through OTIF in line with the site’s requirements, delivering the production plan efficiently and effectively.
* Produce detailed monthly reports on performance, trends and improvement actions.
Person Specification
* Proven experience of achieving targets in a manufacturing environment.
* Excellent knowledge of the latest manufacturing techniques (knowledge of injection moulding machinery will be beneficial)
* Change and business improvement oriented
* Financial awareness.
* Proven ability to lead, motivate and build teams at all levels.
* Ability to develop others.
* Excellent influencing, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good presentation skills
* Demonstrate a desire to succeed and achieve results
* Knowledge of employment legislation, and Health, Safety and Environmental standards
* Proven negotiation skills.
* A background in plastics processing would be an advantage
