Planning Engineer

Location: Maidstone

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

My client, a large contractor, are currently seeking to expand their planning team. The purpose of the role will be to produce and monitor a computer based programme that ensures the project completes on time and within the given budget. They work within the water industry.

Key Responsibilities:

* Compile project programme: drawings, installation & procurement

* Identify key dates start/finish

* Identify resources available

* Evaluate problem areas and highlight areas of concern

* Analyse information supplied by suppliers/sub-contractors

* Accumulate data from all parties

* Monitor progress: installation, procurement, design drawings

* Check on progress & Verify works complete & Review any possible delays

* Monitor material deliveries and drawing production

* Analyse information supplied by suppliers/sub-contractors

* Accumulate data from all parties

* Keep reports up to date, Prepare targets, review results and report

* Target work areas & Review progress

* Prepare detailed reports

* Recommend any remedial works necessary

* Forecast progress

* Liaise with commercial department and deal with preparation of tender programmes

* Evaluate contract programme

* Produce tender programme

* Ascertain resources

Key Skills:

* Knowledge of Water Industry

* Understanding of estimating/tender procedures (materials, procurement)

* Technical knowledge of materials used

* Understanding procurement and lead-in times

* Knowledge of drawing production (design) procedures

* Installation construction and methodology

* Skills and knowledge of IT systems/packages

* Knowledge of project management software

* Skills in assessing production levels

* Understanding, producing and monitoring a construction programme

* Producing meaningful and constructive reports

* Knowledge of planning techniques

* Knowledge of QA, Health & Safety and Industrial Relations

* Financial understanding of materials and labour cost

* Identify risks and possible delays and action

* Use of and understanding assigning resources

* Use of and understanding assigning costs
