A global name in process manufacturing and engineering is currently looking for contract Maintenance Engineers (ideally Chartered) to join their large facility in the West Yorkshire area. The role would suit individuals who have extensive experience working on similar facilities within the O&G, Petrochem, Pharmaceutical or other related sectors.

The ideal applicant would have the following Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

* Degree qualified or HNC with experience.

* Significant experience in plant based maintenance engineering team management, including 1st line management and budget management.

* Working knowledge of key legislation including HASAWA, PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, Electricity at Work, COSHH, DSEAR, L8 and COMAH.

* Chartered or Incorporated status (or working towards) with a professional engineering body i.e. IMechE, IET or equivalent

* Experience managing HSEQ Standards (preferably on Top Tier COMAH site)

* Practitioner in formal problem solving tools (e.g. Apollo RCA, 5 why’s, Fish-bones etc)

* Strong management and compelling influencing skills

General overview of the role:

* Set culture and standards to maintain safe availability of plant within a budget through:

* Driving a Goal Zero culture

* Maintaining the HSEQ standard in the area through cultural change for asset standards, reliable operating methods and robust installation procedures.

* Maintaining Local Compliance Monitoring (LCM), Safe and unsafe acts (SUSA) process’

* Management and enforcement of HSEQ compliance for the area, promoting use of the HSE4u system and completing incident inquiries at the correct level

* Responsible for the engineering team for the area including 1st line management of Task Controllers and Technicians.

* Responsibility for the Plant Engineering budget, by managing Engineering activity to ensure adherence in Revenue and IAS16. Delivering accurate LE and AFC for Sustenance, Capital and Contingency spending.

* Assist in defining, setting, and negotiating the plant engineering budget that leads to successful delivery of the future aims of the manufacturing plant.

* Being responsible for funding requests and delivery of including sustenance and improvement projects.

* Delivering ‘prevent and care’ in preference to a ‘break/fix mentality’ with right first time – ensuring the routine maintenance process is being sustainably operated, owned and used to its full potential with a year on year improvement in performance.

* Delivery of the manufacturing plants annual engineering shutdown activity, collaborating effectively with the outage management team.

* Contribute to the local manufacturing task force (multi- disciplinary plant management team), identifying and prioritising areas for improvement.

* Assisting in the creation of the 5 year Sustenance Audit program; defining priorities and managing funding for ongoing work and future projects at Cost Centre level.

* Ensure all identified improvements are reviewed and supported with data, engineering knowledge of the area and available technologies within the industry.

* Application of the most appropriate problem solving techniques to investigate plant failures, such as RCA, fishbone, multifunctional Process Walkthroughs, Business Process Mapping, criticality / vulnerability studies (safety critical equipment).

* Utilisation of standard work with alignment from leader to manager to associate – ensuring all working at the right level.

* Responsible for the upkeep, review and effective communication of the manufacturing area’s maintenance guides and strategy documents.

* Managing adherence of the engineering team to the sites Competency Management System.

* Working towards attaining professional registration through a relevant Engineering Institution.

The responsibilities of the role will include:

* Function availability of the assets for the manufacturing plant

* Budget adherence, setting and management for Revenue, Capital, IAS16, Sustenance and Contingency.

* Delivery of Engineering development within the manufacturing team

* Ensuring the application of Good Engineering Standards

* Coaching of individuals to establish a team that solves the right problems at the right level.

* Help team to develop to fill future engineering gaps

* Promoting a pro-active and continuous improvement culture

* Individual should be capable and willing to work towards Duty Holder attainment (authorised person) for legislative and regulatory compliance of PSSR, COMAH, PUWER, LOLER, CDM, Management of change procedure, Electricity at work, LOLER, DSEAR, COSHH and Legionella compliance.
