Are you a recently qualified Speech & Language Therapist? Do you want to work with a dynamic, outcomes focused Speech & Language Therapy Service? Are you interested in working with children, young people and their families?

If you can answer yes to the above, please consider applying for this temporary post (up to 12 months dependent on start date). Due to internal promotion an opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Speech & Language Therapist based in the Cupar area of Fife. In Fife SLTs are based in geographical clusters made up of mixed grade therapists; this post is part of the North East cluster.

You will have undergraduate experience of managing a range of speech, language and communication needs in children within a wider community caseload/workload. Experience of working collaboratively with other Health and Education colleagues is desirable. Knowledge of Government drivers such as GIRFEC and the CYP Act will be required in order to support the implementation of a tiered model of intervention to the children & young people of Fife.

Therapists will be well supported by experienced and encouraging senior members of the service. The post will enable a newly qualified therapist to gain experience of working at universal, targeted and specialist levels of intervention.

The Speech and Language Therapy Service in Fife supports Therapists through peer facilitation, personal development planning and provides excellent opportunities for continuing professional development. Therapists will be assigned a mentor to support them to begin or continue developing their RCSLT competencies.

Therapists are also guided by the principles of the Malcomess Clinical Decision Making Framework which is well established in individual caseloads in the Fife service so an understanding of Care Aims although not essential would be a decided advantage.

Applications on a secondment basis will be considered providing you have prior agreement from your current line manager.

For informal enquiries, please contact Hilary Munro, Operational Lead, SLT Service East Fife on.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
