Having recently come together as one Simplyhealth team, under one new brand we’re continuing to transform our business to reach our 2024 ambition, grow Simplyhealth and ultimately deliver our powerful purpose.
We’re now looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our team, playing a leading role in our software development and ensuring solutions delivered are fit for purpose and delivered on time.
About The Role
Working closely with our Product Owners, Business Analysts and Technical Architects you’ll be identifying business needs, running proof of concepts and building production quality software.
As a senior member of the Software Development Team, a high level of technical knowledge and expertise is expected, acquired through working on a large number of medium to large scale projects. This knowledge and expertise will be applied to delivering solutions and also to coaching and mentoring other people in the team.
About You
A key element for this role will be your communication skills, you’ll need to deliver agile development approaches to fit large, complex, enterprise-level projects, being technically sound and confident whilst also ensuring your wider stakeholders fully understand.
We encourage all our teams to continually keep at the forefront of technology and develop their technical skills through both internal and external training. In terms of specific languages you’ll need for this role, you should have commercial experience in some or all of the following
* Spring Boot
* SQL and PL/SQL
* RESTful API design experience
* API management, including versioning and documentation
* Git for source control
* Object-oriented development techniques and theories
* Knowledge of software design patterns
* Knowledge of application security
* Knowledge of Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins
Desirable
* Oracle Database Technologies
* Docker
* Kubernetes
* Knowledge of cloud technologies
* Scrum & Agile experience
* Jira
* Mulesoft
* A client side JS framework such as React/Angular
In Return
As well as a competitive basic salary you’ll receive:
* 36 days holiday (including 8 bank holidays) with an option to buy or sell a further 5 days
* Group annual bonus (discretionary) up to 7.5% of annual salary
* A pension scheme with 6% from us, a minimum 3% from you with the option to increase or decrease when you join. If you decide to contribute 4% or above we will add a further 4% which can be allocated in different ways
* A yearly company funded allowance of £500 that you can choose to use against some great benefits such as shopping vouchers, pet insurance, dental plans and more
