This is a critical role working for a site that is very Health & Safety/Quality focused, where continuous improvement and strong process management is highly promoted. The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar organisation with experience of working though manufacturing processes and managing a team.

This is a critical site for this well known, highly successful global company – a leader in the product they manufacture with a forward thinking and welcoming company culture.


The role will be responsible to lead the production shift team, keeping the environment safe and running an efficient production operation. The Process Team Leader will strongly promote a continuous improvement culture which will lead to delivery of consistent improvement in H+S, Quality, Team working, high level of service, meeting high customer’s expectations and cost savings through efficiency.

The site works across a number of different shift patterns and the Process Team Leader will be expected to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

The key role responsibilities are:

- Ensuring a safe working environment with zero injuries – running a system looking at any incidents, near misses and full investigation is carried out.

- Taking ownership and delivery of the production plan, on time and to the correct levels of standard/quality etc.

- Participation in the investigation of quality incidents and tracking action completed.

- Dealing and resolving product rework in a timely fashion to high quality standards.

- Paying particular attention to collection of accurate performance data making sure manufacturing and filling efficiencies perform as budgeted.

- Making sure the operatives / process team are adequately trained to carry out their duties safely, ensuring enough resources are deployed.

- Develop a culture of open communication, training, development, safety – looking at improvements in area such as; effective handover communication is in place.

- Participation in other meetings, building stakeholder relationships with warehouse and all key areas of the business.

- Assist with embedding a continuous improvement culture, lean manufacture, continuous improvement, safety, quality and H+S conscious working environment.


The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience working within a manufacturing environment – particularly where H+S, Quality and continuous improvement were their focus. (Ideally previous experience in lean manufacture, Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma or Process Management of lean). (Experience working with the heavy, manufacturing or packaging sectors would be a definite advantage).

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of extrusion manufacturing processes (ideally experience of working in an environment where the process handles plastics or metals)

Key qualities:

- An effective strong communicator across all levels

- A track record in influencing and negotiating in all operational environments

- Experience of managing a team of operatives, waste management, looked at cost reduction, involvement with quality of products

- Experience working in sites that have some areas where it is heavily hands on and other areas highly automated

- A strong customer focus, both internal and external

- A strong focus on continuous improvement, lean manufacture etc.

- A hands on approach and attitude

- Positive and professional – must have a high standard of work ethic

- A team player and strong manager

- A detailed person who can multi-task and is aware of everything around him/her and not just focused in one key area or discipline at a time.

- Previously worked as a Team Leader/Supervisor in a similar environment
