Quality Control Technician (Inspection)

Location: Elland

An opportunity has arisen within the Quality team for a QC Technician.


Protect the business from quality concerns, provide measurements and control of components and finished valves, whilst collecting accurate data to support priority areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:

• Carry out dimensional and visual inspection of components and assemblies

• Undertake validation and control of inspection, test & witness activities

• Create non-conformance reports

• Provide containment on quality concerns

• Maintain & control calibration of company equipment (inc. system)

• Assist in the general operation of the Quality Control department

• Assist in internal audit process to ensure adherence

• Represent the company with customers, auditors and 3rd party inspectors to ensure smooth operation of on-site client inspection / witness

• Provide technical assistance and problem resolution on customer, auditors and 3rd party internal quality control issues

• Develop and drive process improvement towards excellence, “best in class”

• Undertake assignments as directed by the Quality Control Coordinator

• Customer / Supplier contact either directly with the customer or with 3rd party inspectors

• Ensure use of calibrated gauges

• Operate in line with the vision set out by the Quality department.

• Goods Receiving, In Process and Final Inspection

• Ensure all work personally undertaken within WVC is carried out in compliance with current H&S rules and WVC safety systems, and is in line with the requirements of the WVC duty of care document.

Education and/or Experience:

• Time-served apprentice to graduate level qualification with a Quality / Manufacturing background.

• Valve / process industry experience an advantage.

• Experience in the use of Quality Tools.

• Experienced user of CMMs, mechanical & electrical inspection measuring equipment, hardness testing and PMI.

• Knowledge of alloys, casting, NDT, welding and coating processes would be advantageous.

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• IT literate in Microsoft packages. SAP experience an advantage.


• Competitive Salary Package

• Sociable Working hours: 37.5 per week

o Monday to Thursday – 7:30AM to 4PM

o Friday – 7:30AM to 12:30PM
