Operations Manager (Steel)
Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Operations Manager (Steel) within the General Cargo Business Unit, based at the Port of Sheerness.
Role Purpose: Responsible for the day to day management of the Steel operation, with a particular focus on safety, P&L and quality. Through the use of key performance indicators, the Operations Manager will seek to continually improve the operation and ensure customer requirements are met through employee engagement.
This role will include the following responsibilities:
-Responsible for maintaining the highest levels of health and safety by ensuring full compliance with Safety365 at all times
-Full responsibility and accountability for reporting of Revenue and management of costs across the customer group
-Liaise closely with Vessel Operations to co-ordinate an effective loading/discharge operation
-Ensure that all employees (and 3rd party labour if present) are fully trained and competent in the duties that they have been assigned
-Financial accuracy for invoicing and billing validation
-Ensure publication and compliance to Service Level Agreements, Key Performance Indicators and Safe Operating Procedures
-Ensure we provide an industry leading service to our customers (24/7 / 365 days a year)
-Demonstrate the leadership behaviours and standards expected in line with our Core Values
-Develop effective relationships with all stakeholders
Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
-Previous experience in an Operational role (medium to large organization)
-Proficient understanding of profit and loss accounts
-General knowledge of cargo handling methods and/or logistical/customer service experience
-IOSH Managing Safety Certificate
-Experience in delivering improved productivity and financial performance improvements through smarter ways of working or operational solutions
-The role requires a dynamic and eager individual with a can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in, accept change and make things happen
-Possession of a valid driving licence is essential
