An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced graduate scientist to join and potentially lead an internationally renowned development team specialising in innovative electro-acoustic physiological measurement instruments for use in the field of audiology.

Otodynamics, a two times Queen’s Award-winning private company, has earned a world-wide reputation for pioneering new ways to detect and investigate hearing loss. It has researched, designed, developed and manufactured its own products for 30 years.

This post has very considerable scope for initiative and leadership. The Lead Scientist will acquire a total understanding of our existing products, hardware, software, functionality and applications. From this knowledge base they will facilitate the specification, development and verification of improved and novel products.

Essential professional requirements

Strong basic science or engineering qualifications

A working knowledge of electronic signal generation and acquisition systems

A sound understanding of time series signal analysis.

Competence with computational tools for data processing

Project management skills

A working knowledge of quality standards in the development of hardware and software

Highly desirable - applicant must demonstrate at least one of the following:

Qualifications in a medical specialty involving physiological measurements (e.g. audiological)
Direct experience of electronic devices within the medical device industry
Substantial experience in PC application or embedded system programming
Substantial experience in electro-acoustic engineering

Required personal characteristics

Capable of both team and self-managed work

Able do innovative creative work within a medical quality assurance framework

Able to communicate effectively at multiple levels, from formal reports, to specifications to other team members, to end user instructions.

Good interpersonal skills.

An ability to learn rapidly and a desire to progress professionally

Salary will be from £40k - 60k pa depending on experience and skill level
