Primary Location: United Kingdom,Northern Ireland,Belfast Education: Bachelor's Degree Job Function: Legal Schedule: Full-time Shift: Day Job Employee Status: Regular Travel Time: Yes, 10 % of the Time Job ID: 19008247 Description Job Description: This role reports to the Director of Outside Counsel Management within Citi's Global Legal Solutions (GLS) organization, and will be based in Belfast. Overall, this role will focus on (i) reviewing, advising on and coordinating legal conflict waiver processing and approvals, (ii) managing multi-party compliance with both internal and external legal policies and procedures, and (iii) developing and delivering strategic reporting and other highly-polished correspondence to senior members of Citi's legal organization, GLS, and members of the external legal community in all regions. This role will work in close daily collaboration with other GLS teammates at all levels across functions including Finance, Technology, Project Management and Operations while adhering to GLS program goals and priorities, evaluating complex legal and operational issues and impact to Citi businesses and Citi's broader legal organization. Primary responsibilities for this role are: Conflict Management - Review, advise on and coordinate legal conflict waiver processing and approvals, and maintain all documentation, as required. - Ensure that all legal conflict waiver requests adhere to Citi's standard provisions and escalate issues when necessary. - Advance the approval process by interacting with all relevant in-house counsel. - Assist with and advise on development and completion of Citi's internal conflict management tracking and approval system. - Maintain comprehensive records on all elements of the conflicts management process for internal documentation, analytics and audit purposes. - Create workflows and detailed guides for in-house attorneys and outside counsel to understand the legal conflict management process. - Create/deliver/present reports to various levels of management within Legal examining risk related to legal conflicts. Terms of Engagement Compliance - Administer, advise on, and train others on Citi's Global Terms of Engagement and related policies governing our law firm relationships to ensure they remain current and are aligned with Citi legal, business and compliance requirements in multiple regions. - Apply independent judgement during review of law firm contracts and terms; escalate and record acceptances and exceptions to Citi's Global Terms of Engagement submitted by all regions. - Coordinate and assist Citi lawyers in the negotiation of engagement letters with law firms to ensure compliance with Citi's terms. - Develop and implement solutions for issues (or potential issues) involving external law firm compliance with Citi's terms. - Create/deliver/present reports to various levels of management within Legal examining risk related to compliance with Citi's terms. Other duties or ad hoc projects may be assigned from time-to-time in support of achieving the overall objectives of the Outside Counsel Management team. Qualifications Job Qualifications: BA required. Law degree preferred. - At least extensive years of relevant experience required, preferably working within (i) a mid-to-large global law firm or large corporate, (ii) a multinational in house legal operations team, or (iii) a global professional services consulting organization with legal sector coverage. - Practical knowledge of common legal matter progression (e.g., course of litigation, basic procedure in the US and/or UK, basic corporate or financial transactions). - Experience with, and understanding of, professional responsibility obligations related to legal conflict waivers in various relevant jurisdictions. - Ability to understand the legal import of Citi's Standard Terms of Engagement and related policies and to apply those concepts to facts and circumstances that may arise over the life cycle of an external firm engagement. - Financial services industry experience a plus. - Proven analytical skills and strong ability to analyze and organize information. - Highly effective project and process management skills. Lean Six Sigma a plus. - High attention to details, excellent time management and critical thinking skills. - High social acumen and the ability to collaborate directly, daily and effectively across cultures, geographies, and time zones. - An ability to lead and influence people across cultures at a senior level using sound judgment, successful execution of strategies, and an understanding of how to operate effectively across diverse businesses. - Advanced writing and verbal presentation skills required. - Strong organizational and documentation skills required. - Exceptional data analysis skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel. - Exceptional written communication skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
