Finance Manager - Asset Management

Circa £70,000 + bonus

Central London

Newly created role.

This will suite an ACA or ACCA qualified candidate, who has worked in asset management. We will also talk to people who are looking for their first move outside of practice.

The Asset Manager

Novello Search is currently seeking a qualified Finance Manager for a prestigious multi-asset manager that specialises in deep research, quantitative analysis and technology. This is a technologically cutting edge business, so strong IT skills will be a major plus.

The asset manager is small enough for you to have a direct impact on the business and this will suit someone who is comfortable with a hands-on approach and above all someone looking for a role where you will gain exposure to most areas of the business.

Background to the Role

The client has created this role because:

  • They need additional capacity to enable the department to focus more of their attention on exploratory projects, increasing the value add of the department
  • They need coverage when the Senior Finance Manager is out due to illness or absence - for the right candidate this may also mean succession planning
  • They would like to enable the segregation of duties

The Role

Working with the senior finance manager to cover

Business as usual (monthly):

  • Help maintaining the general ledger including reconciliation of balance sheet items
  • Producing numerous monthly reports.
  • Production of the monthly management pack including all variance analysis and presentation
  • Production of the quarterly management pack including variance analysis against fixed and rolling budgets
  • Preparing payment runs and further integrating the paperless invoicing system

Business as usual (other):

  • Aiding with the preparation of LLP and LTD company accounts
  • Liaising with auditors and tax advisors regarding year end submissions
  • Aiding with the preparation the quarterly group VAT return
  • Helping deliver all value add tasks in a timely manner
  • Increase the level of automation within the finance team

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year post qualified with an ACA or ACCA qualification (CIMA considered for candidates who strongly match all other criteria)
  • First move out of an audit firm or a move within the finance industry
  • Expert level knowledge in Excel
  • Experience preparing accounts from a trial balance/general ledger
  • Experience of accounts receivables/payables including VAT returns
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong accounting skills specifically has knowledge of IFRS and LLP accounting

Nice-to-have Knowledge and Experience

  • Industry knowledge, either through audit specialisation or having worked in the industry previously
  • Working knowledge of SAGE
  • Knowledge of VBA and/or SQL (SQL preferred)
  • Immediately available (a big plus)
  • Knowledge of Python
  • Knowledge of Paperless
  • IMC qualification of similar
  • Knowledge of FCA regulations
