Job Title: Personal Assistant

Our client has a vacancy for a Personal Assistant to provide his daily and nighttime personal care, social and academic support and help him make the most of his university experience!

Hours: 12-hour shifts (7 am to 7 pm or 7 pm to 7 am) 3 or 4 shifts per week

Start Date: April 2019

Location: Canterbury Christchurch University

Pay & Benefits

£10.00 per hour

5.6 weeks’ holiday pro rata

About our Client

Our client is an 18-year-old, who is about to start his first year studying Film Production at Canterbury Christchurch University, he has a physical disability, Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Our client enjoys playing Grand Theft Auto and other games on PS4, he enjoys going to the cinema and watching films on DVD at home. His favourite films are "Get Out" and "Drive".

About the Job

This is a great opportunity to spend a year doing something very different and meaningful after graduating from university, before embarking on a further career.

You will provide our client's personal / healthcare and social support. This is also a "flatmate" type of role which goes far beyond simply care work and includes all the fun things you’d expect a student of 18 to be doing.

Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided.

During the university holidays, our client will be living with his family in Kent, where work may be available.

About You

You are unlikely to have experience in every aspect of our client's support, therefore, full training in his particular needs is provided.

  • You will need to be physically fit, calm, patient and caring
  • Interested in Film and TV
  • Good organisational skills and being able to work on your own initiative
  • Have a good sense of humour
  • A mature and responsible attitude
  • Excellent hearing and communication skills
  • Have English as your first language.
  • Be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways.
  • Non-Smoker
