Are you an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant wanting to work with challenging behaviour (SEMH)?

We at Pertemps Education are currently looking for a Teaching/Learning Support Assistants to start immediately at a small independent special school in North Essex. This AE/PRU specialises in Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Special Education Needs (SEN) and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

You will work with a range of ages and work will depend on the age of the children and their individual needs, however you would be expected to:
  • Prepare learning materials under the guidance of the teacher
  • Adapt to pupils on an individual basis
  • Care and nurture children’s physical, social and emotional welfare
  • Provide assistance and information for teachers
  • Maintain pupil records and attend review meetings

This school is registered for Key Stage 2-5 pupils with a range of SEMH needs and utilises its own ASC unit. In addition to the teaching of the core curriculum the school uses offsite activities, key working, and therapy sessions. This special school has an Ofsted rating of Good, with ‘Outstanding’ as feedback on the schools work to promote pupil development and welfare.

This SEN & SEMH school offers a positive outcome to young people of school age that have disengaged, or at the point of disengaging with education. The school follows an ethos of value, purpose and achievement. Importantly, a pupil has not been excluded for over 6 years whilst more than 80% of the pupils are in education, training or employment six months after leaving.
