Project and Technical Support Manager
Our client is a leader in the development, manufacture and supply of a range of scientific measurement and control instrumentation for use in a variety of sectors such as meteorology, water, environmental, energy, infrastructure and gas monitoring. Due to continued strong global growth they are now seeking to appoint a Project Manager to work with clients, customers and internal teams (R&D, manufacturing, technical support etc.) to deliver a range of projects in the UK and Europe. As part of this role you will also manage a team of Technical Support and Installation Engineers. This will be an office-based role with occasional travel required to customer sites.
Duties to include:
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
Develop a detailed project plan to track progress and ensure resource availability and allocation.
Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
Coordinate and manage all Technical Support activities, including Pre-Sales System Design & Support, Technical Review of Tender Specifications, Post-Sales Support Issue Resolution, Installations & Maintenance, Datalogger Programming, Software Testing, Preparing & Delivering Training courses for customers and internal staff.
Set specific customer service standards and ensure customer service is timely and accurate on a daily basis.
Recruit Technical Support Engineers.
Contribute to improving customer support by actively responding to queries and handling complaints.
Engineering, Science, Computer Science or Communications Technology degree or qualified by suitable relevant experience.
Proven working experience as a Project Administrator and/or Technical Support Manager in the technology or environmental sectors.
PMP/Prince2 qualified an advantage but not essential.
Technical experience with monitoring or measurement instrumentation in the environmental, weather, climate, energy or aviation sectors would be a distinct advantage.
Team leading / supervisory experience essential.
Knowledge or understanding of basic software development / web technologies / communication protocols.
Able to coordinate different working groups to ensure project completion on time and on budget.
Excellent interpersonal skills and confident interacting with a wide variety of people.
Well organised and able to prioritise tasks for multiple working groups.
Commercial awareness and excellent customer service skills.
Fluent in English.
