PRU (Alternative Education) Teacher for Day to Day supply, Short term, or Long term with Immediate Start

We at Pertemps Education are working in partnership with a number of Pupil Referral Units (PRU) across Suffolk. We have sites in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Lowestoft, Sudbury and Stowmarket.

We are currently looking for a SEN experienced Alternative Education Teacher with excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to manage with very challenging and extreme behaviour.

You will work with a range of ages across all Key Stages and your duties will depend on the age of the children and their individual needs, but may include:

• Working inside or outside the classroom with individuals or groups

• Adapting support according to needs

• Looking after children's physical, social and emotional welfare

• Creating a stimulating environment

• Giving information and help to teachers

• Keeping records and attending review meetings

The primary activity of these PRU schools is the provision of specialist education services to young people with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs – previously known as Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) – and highly focused education services for pupils with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).

They work with the most disaffected, challenging pupils across the region. Pupils have often been excluded from numerous schools and have been out of full-time education before they arrive at these PRU’S.

If you have a passion for working with young people with complex SEMH needs and you are committed to making a difference to their lives via Education we would love to hear from you.
