POSITION: Conveyancing Assistant & Secretary

SALARY: Competitive Salary

HOURS: Monday to Friday 9am-5.15pm (with one-hour unpaid lunch break) Saturdays 9.30am – 12.30pm (optional, on a rota basis)

DESCRIPTION:

Our client provides legal advice and customer service excellence to the people and businesses of Skipton, Craven and the Yorkshire Dales. The company offers a wide range of both private client and commercial services including conveyancing, Wills & probate, family & divorce, employment law and dispute resolution. The business is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Assistant & Secretary. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established company.

JOB ROLE/ DUTIES:- (Not limited to)

To type correspondence and documents and provide general secretarial support primarily for the Property department but also helping out in other departments as required.
Data input into the case management system to open new files and update information.
Dealing with registrations of Title with Land Registry through their online portal and through the DX.
Handling client enquiries, both in person and on the telephone.
Making appointments for lawyers with clients and other parties using Outlook.
Franking outgoing post, photocopying and filing.
Carrying out administrative tasks as required by fee earners and/or the Practice Manager (all secretaries are occasionally required to assist with covering reception, taking post/DX and carrying out banking).
Adherence to the firm’s rules, policies and procedure.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:-

A secretarial or touch typing qualification, including a minimum of 60 wpm touch typing speed.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a professional secretary, ideally as a legal secretary.
Experience of typing using digital dictation (preferably BigHand).
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Friendly and helpful manner both on the telephone and in person, with clients, colleagues and other third parties.
Smart and professional appearance and approach to work.
Be punctual, reliable and pragmatic.
