Newly Qualified Accountant
Wilkinson & Associates are working with a highly respected financial services firm based in the heart of Edinburgh. Due to their continued growth, driven by development of their existing operations and through acquisition, our client is looking to expand their finance function with specific regard to their Financial Reporting Team. The Financial Reporting team are responsible for reporting to internal and external customers for all group companies, including annual statutory reporting under IFRS. The team also assist with quarterly Group Reporting and Regulatory Reporting as well as producing a number of monthly, quarterly and annual internal financial reports. There is also a large amount of technical project work that is undertaken by the team. This position is ideally pitched at the newly qualified accountant level and applicants must have strong working knowledge of IFRS / FR102 gained from either another reporting role or external audit. Summary of role profile: *Communicating complex accounting procedures and principles with multiple stakeholders across the business, both in the UK and potentially globally. *Completing a range of standard accountancy functions to meet business and regulatory requirements, including producing financial reports and accounts, providing analysis and reviews of financial data, and statutory reporting as required by the specific department or business area. *Providing professional accountancy advice to multiple stakeholders in a range of business environments to inform business decision making, such as within a regular reporting cycle or within a project environment. *Maintaining knowledge and understanding of multiple reporting bases (eg IFRS, S2 and EEV) in order to ensure a comprehensive consultancy service is provided to business decision makers. *Applying appropriate quality assurance controls to all work produced in the team, to ensure the accuracy and validity of the company's financial information. *Undertaking analysis of a range of business data and reports, to provide recommendations on commercial viability and tax efficiency of proposed business strategies. To be considered for the role you must be a qualified accountant. You must be keen to develop your technical and legislative accounting knowledge and skills. You should also be comfortable presenting figures to senior stakeholders and having the confidence and ability to provide challenge where appropriate. It is expected you will be a proven team player, willing to go the extra mile where required and have excellent communication skills. You should be able to demonstrate a problem-solving skill set, attention to detail and sound organisational skills.
