We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join a great team in our Southampton Uk office.

Purpose:

To act as number 2 to Senior Finance Manager. To initiate and lead improvement projects. Manage Payroll function and Payroll & Accounts Assistant. Manage production of monthly management accounts for 3 brands accurately to strict deadlines. To ensure that internal control procedures are adhered to and assist in day to day operations.

4. EMEA Accounting Team

Competencies:

  • Work with Accounting team to ensure successful achievement of monthly reporting process to strict deadlines, to include:
  • Journal approval
  • Daily update of Analytical Review and Executive Summary reports during month end close
  • Follow up to ensure month end timetable adhered to and any delays addressed
  • Daily progress reports of outstanding review points, timetable items & balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure completion of balance sheet reconciliations to strict deadlines
  • Support Management Accountants during close process
  • Manage Payroll Function
  • Lead relationship with Payroll providers to ensure timely and accurate payroll process
  • Manage Payroll & Accounts Assistant to deliver payroll process, monthly close, balance sheet reconciliations, annual returns, audit requests
  • Investigate opportunities for payroll process improvements
  • Lead and deliver on time successful accounting improvement projects such as:
  • Concur electronic expense system
  • Corporate Credit cards
  • Trintech reconciliation tool
  • Trintech monthly/quarterly/annual timetable
  • Purchase to pay process improvements
  • PeopleSoft upgrade UAT
  • Identify other opportunities for process improvement
  • Enforcement of internal control processes including approval of bank payments
  • Support quarterly forecasting and annual budgets
  • Support internal and external audit preparation and management
  • Build strong, effective relationships with management team, budget holders & Group accounting & IT teams
  • Any other tasks that may be reasonably requested

Job Specific Knowledge Skills & Behaviours Required:

  • Minimum 5 years experience of preparing management accounts with proven delivery of month end result and to tight deadlines
  • Proven project management skills delivering multiple projects successfully and on time.
  • Knowledge & experience of accounts payable, expenses and payroll processes
  • Proven ability to improve processes
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Excellent at building relationships
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Ability to retain a positive attitude under pressure
  • Comfortable with multicurrency transactions
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Salesforce and/or Concur advantageous
  • High degree of accuracy
  • Microsoft Office especially Intermediate/advanced Excel skills

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum Part-qualified or Accounting degree
  • Knowledge of travel industry would be advantageous
