Job purpose
The Vendor Manager is responsible for building and managing relationships with those who supply IT products and services to the organisation ensuring that vendors meet or exceed their contractual obligations.
In addition the Vendor manager role is responsible for adhering to the vendor management framework and maintaining continuous improvement against this.
The role will be directly responsible for a number of vendors in the Vendor portfolio ensure agreed standards are being met to deliver against business objectives.

Role context
The provision and the cost of production services is absolutely dependent on the performance of vendors and they should be viewed as an extension of the BT UK organisation. As such they require formal management and control in the same way as internal teams. This role has the responsibility for that management across the entire BT vendor estate. In doing so, it is responsible for adhering to the framework for Vendor Management. It needs to work with the business and BT stakeholders to understand the requirements and ensure the correct levels of diligence are applied during selection and on boarding, such as security and legal compliance.

Principal accountabilities

• Responsible for ensuring that vendors meet or exceed their contractual obligations
• Responsible for adhering to the vendor management framework and maintaining continuous improvement against this.

• Delivering value for money services from the vendors
• Point of escalation for vendors during service incidents
• Lead vendor selection, contract negotiation, renewal and extensions when required, or support the team in this activity
• Ensure personal knowledge and exposure to the vendor community remains up to date, appropriate and relevant. Knowledge, skills, experience and competencies

• Strong contract negotiation and management skills, along with the ability to manage performance of third party contracts and operational level agreements involving multi-sourced and multi-disciplined service providers
• Experience of Vendor tendering, selection and on boarding
• Able to analyse contracts and spend - implementing KPIs, Service Improvements and cost savings
• Experience of working within, or managing outsource managed services contracts, as well as an excellent understanding and experience of ITIL service management processes
• Exemplary communication skills both verbally and written, along with the ability to develop excellent working relationships both internally and externally.
• Strong commercial awareness alongside risk management
• Capable of contributing to the wider Service Delivery and Business Technology teams
• Experience of best practice methodologies, IT governance & controls
• Capability to act as a point of escalation for service and process issues
• Knowledge of contract law and IT Service Delivery Management (ITIL) preferred but not essential
