Relationship Director, Corporate Loan Management Unit (CLMU)

My global client based in Bristol is seeking a Relationship Director in Corporate Loan Management.

This candidate will be responsible for the relationship management of high risk problem exposure, customers that are experiencing financial distress. CLMU undertakes a significant role in supporting their turnaround, wherever possible, by working with customers to support the changes necessary to restore business viability. Whilst the primary aim and objective of CLMU is to maintain long term relationships with customers, it is recognised that this will not always be possible and where business viability cannot be established or restored and/or the funding need from the client is unacceptable in the context of its risk appetite, CLMU will explore options with the customer that provide a consensual route to full repayment.

Responsibilities

  • The pro-active risk management of UK Corporate Banking relationships in accordance with Global Standards.
  • Rehabilitation of relationships is the primary objective, but if not possible, consensual full repayment is the secondary priority
  • Protection of recurring income streams by seeking to implement turnaround strategies, where a viable business is evident, and ensuring pricing is appropriate
  • Minimise impairments and forecast future impairments accurately and reliably
  • Continually reassess operational risks taking account of the changing economic, legal and regulatory environment
  • Implement Group compliance policy by working in concert with the relevant compliance department
  • Be able to demonstrate adherence to internal control procedures.
  • Ensure effective credit and reputational risk management
  • Identification of streamlining / potential savings through improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of CLMU.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of UK Corporate Banking is essential.
  • A full, valid driver's license availability to undertake the travel required for this role that requires flexibility at very short notice.
  • Knowledge of the turnaround industry is preferable but not essential.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.
  • Have ability to negotiate effectively together with an attitude to persuade and influence others is essential.
  • Have the ability to consider, create and implement appropriate strategies balancing managing the bank's risk & supporting the customer.
  • Demonstrate the following behaviours - tenacity, positive 'can do' approach, takes personal ownership.
  • Credit & Risk experience is required.
  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes.
  • Have ability to build strong lasting relationships with internal departments

Salary and package

  • Base salary £70-80k, plus bonus, plus car, plus benefits, plus flexible working
