The South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) is a partnership of the private and public sector which drives economic growth across Essex, East Sussex, Kent, Medway, Southend and Thurrock. SELEP has an important year ahead as it positions itself as a key player in regional economic growth.

The Opportunity

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has selected SELEP as one of three second wave Digital Skills Partnership (DSP) pilot areas and is funding a post to drive this forward. This exciting new initiative involves working collaboratively with partners, industry and Government bodies, and developing a framework to help address local digital skills needs and bring a range of opportunities to the SELEP geography.

The post holder will be required to deliver an ambitious project plan; establishing a DSP, engaging key partners, ensuring join up, data gathering, identifying gaps, evaluation and creating a framework with DCMS, ensuring the plan drives forward development against key themes. You will also facilitate coordination between existing initiatives and ensure coordination in introducing new initiatives.

There will also be a communications aspect to this role which will include raising the profile of existing activity, building collaboration and bringing together local and national tech and digital companies, education sector, local government, charities and other key stakeholders under the umbrella of the DSP. The role will involve spending at least one day per month at DCMS with Co-ordinators from other LEP areas.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have membership of a relevant professional body, experience within the area of digital skills and an understanding of national and SELEP skills priorities.

You will take an evidence-based approach to utilising data and articulating this to stakeholders in a clear way, highlighting your excellent verbal and written communication skills and your competent use of computer software (including Excel and PowerPoint).

You will have proven expertise of leading and managing the roll out of strategy and operating this in a complex stakeholder environment, whilst providing recommendations and business cases on proposed courses of action to meet established needs and deliver results.

Above all, you will work effectively with a wide range of internal and external bodies, including senior politicians and strategic businesses, successfully influencing partners and ensuring good relationship management, whilst demonstrating your leadership skills and unbiased behaviours.
