Salary: £35,000 -£55,000 pa dependent on experience Market-Leading Provider of Digital Solutions Birmingham The Role A thriving government-funded organisation is going through an exciting time of digital transformation, with a new vision, strategy and purpose as a strategic enabler to the organisation; and is now looking for an ambitious Infrastructure Manager to continue the journey. Infrastructure Manager will lead the Infrastructure team of eight engineers, as the subject matter expert in all aspects related to the organisation's technology infrastructure design and development, and report to the Deputy Director. In the absence of the Deputy Director, the Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the Infrastructure & Security section of the IT department, including all strategic matters. The IT Infrastructure team are responsible for all aspects of the organisation's IT infrastructure, including all on-premise datacentres and related operational services, all servers both on-premise and in-cloud, all connectivity, including wired, wireless, and mobile networks, printing, video conferencing, telephony services, communication, collaboration, file management and all databases. The design of the technology infrastructure in the organisation is critical to the successful effective operation of all technology-based systems. The Infrastructure Manager is the subject-matter expert for all aspects related to technology infrastructure, and through their expertise, the design and development of the technology infrastructure is shaped. The Infrastructure Manager is an expert in all cloud and on-premise infrastructure and related strategies and working closely with the Deputy Director and the wider IT Infrastructure team, understands how to adopt different approaches to deliver effectively when requirements are expressed and implicit. To be successful here you will need be able to demonstrate expertise in a number of the key areas below: Accountable for the operational stability, performance, availability and reliability of the IT infrastructure in the organisation, delivered through the line management of a collection of infrastructure experts, all cloud infrastructure operations, databases, servers, services, systems, networking, connectivity, audio visual, video conferencing and similar. Responsible for technical designs and project lifecycles for multiple major infrastructure enhancements or sub-systems. Responsible for assessing business requirements and presenting technical recommendations for selection by the IT Leadership Team. Ensures implicit and explicit business and application requirements can be supported by proposed solutions. Produces relevant business cases for changes to the existing technical Infrastructure. Responsible for the production and management of detailed technical designs and architecture libraries. Providing input to design and implementation plans, and governance to solution delivery teams. Serving as a subject matter expert for specific areas of technical infrastructure. Contributor to the design and continuous improvement of all IT Infrastructure provided to the organisation. Co-leads on the department's contribution to property change (such as office moves and new tenancies) projects, in partnership with the IT Service Manager. Major contributor to delivery of projects into BAU services. Experience of: Comprehensive understanding and experience of a range of Microsoft platforms such as Exchange Server, Active Directory, SQL Server, Lync and Windows Server operating systems. Excellent and demonstrable knowledge of PowerShell automation. Robust knowledge of Storage Area Networks and backup systems Good understanding and experience of developing and maintaining IT disaster recovery plans and business continuity solutions Configuration and maintenance of Cisco network equipment, with the ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex LAN / WLAN / WAN issues.
