Our client is seeking a dynamic and motivated Group Development Manager with experience of building and leading development functions to join its CIO team at an exciting time in its evolution. Delivering excellence in technology, transformation, MI and IT innovation, the role will include providing leadership, strategy development and implementation of agile delivery models to support, run, maintain, enhance and change core platforms, improving the systems required for individual lines of business as well as supporting delivery of large corporate programs both in terms of customer facing and internal systems.

The Role

A pivotal role, the Group Development Manager will be responsible for key cross-business platforms including Digital, Integration Services and Data & Analytics and will utilise sound market and industry knowledge, combined with strategic leadership to define the future state for these platforms, working across the business to ensure a secure and reliable IT solutions that enables everyday efficiency, exceptional customer experience and drives business growth. You will have direct responsibility for managing and developing our internal development teams, building our long-term capability, driving technical excellence and innovation, championing the use of agile working and DevOps tools and practices. You will be able to shape and develop the team and will be responsible for recruiting three new managers to further enhance this team and oversee three key areas: 1) Digital Platforms- Portals, Web, mobile and CMS, 2) Integration Service Platform-Middleware, API's and 3rd party integration and 3) Data Warehousing & Analytics. You will have full responsibility for financial management of the function including both costs of the internal team and strategic third-party partners. As a regulated organisation you will also be responsible for ensuring that operational risk is effectively managed and that there is a strong control environment in place for the function. As a member of the Technology leadership team you will work with colleagues across IT functions including Architecture, Heads of Delivery and Operations to champion increased use of agile delivery models and support adoption of DevOps tools and practices.

The Person

You will be a consummate, senior IT leadership professional with extensive experience of managing multiple teams to build, run and transform customer facing and internal systems ideally covering Digital (Web, Mobile, CMS), Integration Services and Data & Analytics platform. You will be experienced in transitioning organisations to increased use of Agile and DevOps tools and practices to drive continuous improvement throughout the Systems Development Life-Cycle (SDLC). You'll have experience of working in a regulated environment and implementing appropriate Governance, Risk and Compliance processes - ideally within a Financial Services environment. You'll have excellent relationship management skills and be able to manage senior stakeholders and third parties and also be able to challenge the status quo in order to improve operational efficiency and the customer experience.
