Our client is seeking to increase their pool of flexible consultancy surveyors, generally this role has suited those who do not require fixed weekly hours, you maybe coming up for retirement or have already retired and are looking for another flexible income separate from your life pension/s or other investments you have made. This role would suit an ex engineering surveyor with experience of Inspection of Pressure Vessels; Boilers; Heat Exchangers; Columns; Piping; PSV’s; Storage Tanks. You experience of Fabrication of vessels, tanks, piping, welding and structural steelworks would be strong as would you understanding of PSSR, PED, ASME, API, EEMUA, ISO and other standards.

This role is to provide pre-commissioning inspection services primarily for pressure equipment and dangerous goods tanks. Additionally you may need to inspect in-service pressure equipment and dangerous goods tankers to establish fitness for purpose, or ensure the quality of modifications or repairs. The role is customer facing and involves visiting clients premises to inspect equipment to ensure it complies with legislative and construction code requirements. On a day to day basis you will be sentencing clients workmanship, as well as reviewing their quality documentation relating to materials, welding and non-destructive testing. For our clients you will be a key decision maker.

To ensure that technical knowledge is constantly reviewed and updated ensuring compliance with regulators

Experience & Knowledge

Knowledge of pressure equipment directive and relevant guidance regulations
Hold significant experience in fabrication of pressure equipment
Have a thorough understanding of pressure equipment construction, particularly quality and workmanship aspects
Knowledge of welding processes and procedures, weld inspection and weld defects
Knowledge of non-destructive testing

Good attention to detail to make sure quality records, checklists and reports are correct and detailed.
Assertive; such that if you make a decision you are confident to stand by it, but without being confrontational
Good use of English and report writing skills
Good verbal communicator; the candidate can explain complex problems to stakeholders (client, fabricator, Consultancy Engineer)
Good knowledge of fabrication and welding
Flexible; client demands can be such that your planned days can be changed at short notice

Qualifications Required

•HND/HNC in a mechanical Engineering related subject, or better
•Non destructive testing qualifications; in particular radiographic interpretation(Desired)
•CSWIP visual examination quals. (Desired)
