Wentworth Castle Gardens is set to reopen in summer 2019 as part of a unique partnership between the National Trust, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Northern College. Working together we plan to make this special place with its grade 1 listed park and garden and its fascinating stories, both historic and modern-day, somewhere that everyone can enjoy.This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of a brand new team creating new ways for people to get involved and making Wentworth Castle Gardens a place where everyone feels welcome and included.What you'll be doing
You’ll be helping to lead, inspire, train, and support. Every penny of our profits goes back into the conservation of Wentworth Castle Gardens and our Food & Beverage & Retail team play a key part in making this happen.
Along with overseeing the Front of House Food & Beverage & Retail team, you’ll be ready and willing to roll your sleeves up and help them to serve our visitors. In addition to this, you’ll have back office duties to tend to which will include, but is not limited to; creating rotas using the labour tool, stock management and ordering for the combined food & beverage offer and retail shop.
We strive to grow our business and we celebrate innovative thinking, so you’ll have ample opportunities to seek ways in which we can further develop the offerings to our visitors. After all, it’s the money generated in our commercial outlets that allows us to continue the vital conservation work we undertake as an organisation.
You won’t be required to delve too deeply into budgeting, however, you’ll help to keep an eye on things like our staffing costs and minimising waste in order to keep these within the budget.

To be successful in this role you'll need to able to have;
- Good people management skills, including setting personal objectives and providing feedback
- A track record of developing the Food & Beverage and/or Retail offer and achieving performance targets
- Good people skills enabling effective relationships externally and internally to be built and maintained
- A proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service
- Great written and verbal communication skills including influencing and negotiating
- Confident with IT systems
- Willing to embrace central initiatives
