Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for an experienced LSSL Highways Engineer on a 6 months contract with a possibility of an extension. This is 35 hours per week contract at the hours between 07:30AM to 15:00PM

Purpose of the role – The role will be embedded within the Alleyway refurbishment project team and be inspected to ensure that the refurbishment of each alleyway is completed to the required specification. The role will take be responsible for all aspects of the work from design, contract preparation, tendering and site supervision. The role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with highways legislation that all work carried out on site follows Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Duties/Responsibilities—

* Preparing and checking project specifications and drawings

* Preparing reports

* Preparing contract documents

* Undertaking work on site such contract supervision of ‘in house’ highways teams and contractors

* Communicating and gaining approval of temporary works in the highway

* Communicating with suppliers, clients, contractors and the public

* Analysing problems and developing innovative solutions

* Planning your work and the work of others on a weekly basis

* Compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and managerial procedures

* Presenting/ representing your specific technical work (presentations / meetings).

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications/Experience-

* Knowledge and experience in design, contract preparation, tendering and site supervision of Highways Civil works

* HNC/HND in Civil Engineering and or IEng or CEng with a recognised body such as Institute of Highway Engineers

* A good understanding and application of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

* A good understanding of Highway legislation carrying out works within the highway

* The ability to lead and to work as part of a team

* The ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions

* The aptitude to work on your own initiative

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgements

* The ability to work and communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
